Professional & Personal Insight:

  • In her working life Melva taught commercial subjects at the Tokomairiro High School for 20 years.
  • In her retirement reviews financial returns for local clubs.

Melva Bradshaw:

  • Melva was awarded an Honorary Life Member in 2006 receiving a certificate to commemorate this

distinction and is one of only two members to be given this accord.

  • The sole remaining foundation member still attending meetings.
  • In July 1984 the club was proposed and in August 1984 held its first meeting with 41 members.  Three years later membership numbered 70.
  • Held the position of the club’s first treasurer from 1984-87 (a maximum of three years allowed then) and again from 1992-94.
  • A club delegate to Conference twice – 1992 in Palmerston North and 1995 in Greymouth.
  • Melva has been the newsletter typist at various times 1994, 1997-98 when she also assisted in compilation as well, and now in 2009 helping out again typing up the monthly news sheet.
